Admission

  1. Admission to the EST master's programme requires the completion of an eligible degree programme or another eligible degree programme of at least the same academic level at a recognized domestic or foreign post-secondary educational institution.
  2. Eligible degree programmes include bachelor's programmes in History, Philosophy, and all social science degree programmes at the University of Vienna. In addition, the program is also aimed at graduates of other disciplines e.g. astronomy, biology, chemistry, physics, geography, mathematics, computer science, economics, ancient history, prehistory and early history, Byzantine studies and modern Greek studies, art history, classical archaeology, Jewish studies, European ethnology, or Egyptology.
  3. To compensate for significant differences in subject matter, supplementary examinations may be required, which must be taken by the end of the second semester of the master's programme. The Rectorate may determine which of these supplementary examinations are requirements for taking the examinations specified in the master's programme curriculum.
  4. If the significant differences in subject matter referred to in paragraph (3) exceed 30 ECTS credits, the degree programme is not considered to be an eligible degree programme and admission will not be granted.
