External Examinations

In order to enter an external examination in your transcript of records, we need a formal application from you with associated documents that prove the validity of the examination. Please send us scans of all forms and documents with original signatures electronically via the service desk. The “Application for registration of external services” form can be found at the end of this page.  

The following cases involve examinations that must be attained externally:  

  • Teaching internships (teacher's education programme)
  • Teaching internships abroad with Erasmus +
  • Summer and winter schools 

Teaching internships (Teacher's Education Programme)

Required documents:  

  • Confirmation letter from the principal or administration of your school in the original (not a copy) with:
    • Description of the subject matter (possibly also elective subjects)
    • Scope (actual teaching hours or weekly hours or value units, per semester or school year)
    • School stamp
    • Original signature from principal or administration
  • In the case of a teaching internship:
    • Internship proof in the original (not a copy)

Additional Information:  

  • The SPL must approve any teaching internship, that you want recognized as part of the the teacher’s education programme.
  • Lessons about topics in psychology, philosophy and/or ethics are generally suitable for PP. With proof of the teaching content, corresponding elective subjects or pedagogy can also be considered.
  • Ethics, religion and philosophy or corresponding elective subjects are eligible for MA Ethics M 3.2. In the case of PP lessons held, the confirmation from the school must either state that the content was predominantly philosophy lessons or indicate the proportion of actual philosophy lessons. Exception: teaching internship in PP or religion, which counts as a flat rate of 7 ECTS. A total of a maximum of 7 ECTS can be used for the MA Ethics.
  • Please note that you must also complete an accompanying course (interdisciplinary didactics or didactic support of the practical phase) for your teaching practice in the BEd and MEd studies.
  • In this case, ONLY the SSC can/may register you for the accompanying course. Please do NOT register yourself, but rather send us a request with your desired group via the service desk in good time before the start of the course. Please note that your grade and credits can only be released once your original documents submitted to the SSC have been collected. 

Teaching internships abroad

Required documents:  

  • Traineeship Certificate after mobility with original signatures from you and those responsible at the school as well as evaluation of the trainee (max. 60 words) ⇒ Create an online profile from your mobility after your stay
  • Learning Agreement before (LA before) with original signature SPL 18
  • Internship passport (with original signatures of mentor) ⇒ You can find it on the SSC teacher training website
  • Teaching concepts for the lessons actually held (for BEd PP with reflections) ⇒ You can find information about this in the accompanying lecture
  • Observation reports ⇒ You can find information about this in the accompanying lecture  

Further information:  

  • Please note that with a BEd or MEd degree you must complete an accompanying course (interdisciplinary subject didactics or subject didactic support of the practical phase) close to the time of your school practice abroad.
  • In this case, ONLY the SSC can/may register you for the accompanying course. Please do NOT register yourself, but rather send us an inquiry using the contact form in good time before the start of the course.
  • Every semester, at least one course is offered in a flexibly accompanying format for students doing their teaching internship abroad.
